Chapter No 1
Question 10. What is system unit? Explain the main parts of CP.
Answer: The system unit is a rectangular case that houses the electronic components inside the computer like mother board, RAM, Hard Disk etc
- Mother Board: Mother board or system board is main circuit board in system unit. Several types of chips can be found on motherboard. The motherboard also contains expansion slots into which other circuit boards can be inserted for expansion of the computer
- Processor: The processor or central processing computer (COU) is the electronic device that interprets and carries out the instructions that tells computers how to work.A microprocessor contains Control Units and Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) and registers.
Question 11. What is CPU? Explain the main parts of CPU
Answer: The system unit is a rectangular case that houses the electronic components inside the computer like mother board, RAM, Hard Disk etc
- Control Unit:
- Fetch
- Decode
- execute
- Store
The control unit supervises most of the operation in the computer. For every instruction in Control Unit (CU) repeat four basic operations called Machine Cycle. Those are
- Arithmetic Logic Unit: The ALU performs the arithmetic comparison and logical operations. Arithmetic operation includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.Logical operation include compare one data item to another to determine both are equal, greater or less.
- Registers: Registers are high speed temporary storage locations used to hold data instructions. Microprocessor contains different types of registers.
Question 12. Write short Note on any three storage devices
Answer: Storage Devices/ Secondary Storage: Such devices on which data and information are stored some of the storage devices are
- Hard Disk: It is a fixed disk housed inside system unit contains several circular disks called platters on which data are stored electronically. The data are read by a head
- Campact Disk: A compact disk (CD) is a flat round portable storage medium tha are used to store and carry data. The data is stored using laser beam.
- Memory Card: A memory card is a small sized electronic storage medium used to store and carry data. When inserted into a card reader the data from memory card can be read and write into. Memory card are mainly used in digital cameras, laptops etc.
